I was honestly a bit hesitant about ripped shorts for a 13-year-old but once I saw these in person I understood why kids want them. The distressing is clean and proportionate, not random. The edges are finished so they will not fray further. My son wears them with a plain white oversized tee and slides at home, and switches to a fitted graphic tee and sneakers for outings. He has already worn them to two birthday parties and looked great both times. Quality is solid.

What I specifically liked is that the rips are sized for a younger wearer, not oversized the way some adult ripped shorts look. It looks age-appropriate and stylish. My daughter pairs them with a cropped sweatshirt and white sneakers for a casual weekend look. For summer picnics she goes with a breezy off-shoulder top. Fabric is comfortable and pockets are functional. Colour has held through multiple washes.
